The representative of Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and head physiotherapy department in the Western region has informed about the alarming situation of increasing stroke cases. The graph of stroke cases specifically raised in the past 7 years.
“The incidence of stroke has increased overwhelmingly from 13.1% in 2011 to 36.4% in 2018 in the region, a worrying situation the region must combat as soon as possible.”
During the awareness program with respect to stroke issue, Stroke Aids Foundation doctor informed that:
“Stroke, the silent killer, all you need to know. In the Western region, we don’t have a lot of physiotherapist centers.”
Further, she featured that even Ghana’s greatest therapeutic establishment Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is stressed over the disturbing circumstance.
“There has been a considerable increase in young people developing strokes and this has become alarming. People have very busy lifestyles, we’re having more stress, and we’re having higher level hypertension.”
