Egypt will host the upcoming U-23 AFCON Tournament. The ex-coach of Asante Kotoko, CK Akonnor has been appointed in place of Ibrahim Tanko in Black Stars’ technical team.
Technical Coordinator Stephen Appiah and trainer for the goalkeepers, Ricahrd Kingson is still having their posts. There have been rumors that they have been sacked from the technical team.

Akonnor has been appointed so as to enable Coach Tanko to focus more on his role as being the head coach of the Black Meteors. He is getting the team ready for the next month’s 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations to be held in Egypt.
On November 14th, Ghana along with South Africa is supposedly starting their campaign. This will be for 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The second Group C fixture will happen three days afterwards. The Black Stars will go and have a match with Sao Tome and Principe.
Many coaches were shortlisted for the Guinea national team job. Coach Akonnor was also one of them but he was dropped out after an interview.
When his contact with Ghana Premier League side abrogated, then he became free.
Coach Akonnor is very experienced in coaching. He has a shift at the topmost Ghana Premier League clubs. The list includes relegated club Sekondi Eleven Wise, Dreams FC, Hearts of Oak, Ashanti Gold SC and Asante Kotoko.
