Oxford beat Sunderland on penalty shootouts in the fourth round of the EFL cup. Oxford were able to make their way into the quaterfinals of the event for the first time since 1987-88.

Will Grigg missed out on his penalty Marc McNulty’s kick was saved by Oxford United’s keeper to reach the quaterfinals of the events, and quite deservingly in the end.
It was Simon Eastwood who saved the penalty and barred Sunderland from a victory.
It was McNulty who levelled for Sunderland to take the game to penalty shootouts. Here it was McNulty who wasn’t able to live up to the expectations of his peers which resulted in the sad demise of his side in terms of a loss.
Sunderland’s equalizer was their only shot on goals for the entire match.
Karl’s Robinson side scored on all of their penalty shootouts. Oxford United beat Millwall on penalty shootouts too in the second round of the event.
The quaterfinals draws are going to take place tomorrow.
