President Donald Trump has confirmed the Islamic State (IS) group leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi death during a US military raid in Syria as he killed himself by detonating his suicide vest. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi came into the scene in 2014 after he declared the establishment of a caliphate in Iraq and Syria that triggered a series of atrocities in the area resulting in thousands of killings.
In spite of the US claim of defeating IS, it remained present in the region. Some analysts consider Baghdadi death as an achievement for the US president who remained under intense pressure for an impeachment inquiry. Mr. Trump also accused over the decision of US troops pullout from Syria to clear the way for the Turkish invasion.
President Trump further detailed that military dogs chased Baghdadi after he fled into a dead-end tunnel. However, he ignited his suicide vest that caused the tunnel collapse and he died along with his three children. No US military man died in the military operation except a dog who sustained injuries in the explosion. Baghdadi’s body destroyed in the blast but DNA test made on the spot to confirm his identity. Meanwhile, the SDF spokesman said that Baghdadi’s right-hand man also murdered in another US raid in Jarablus.
