President Tayyip Erdogan has filed a petition against Le Point, a French Magazine, for depicting him as ‘The Eradicator’ on the front cover of the magazine. The complaint filed after the Mr.Erdogan was indicted for ethnic cleansing in Syria in the magazine’s cover story.

President Erdogan ordered prosecutors to file a criminal petition against managing editor and journalist of the front cover story. At present, Etienne Gernelle and Romain Gubert are working as the magazine’s managing editor and author respectively. Meanwhile, Turkish President Lawyer Huseyin Aydin expressed concerns that how Mr. Erdogan publically insulted by French Magazine. He also revealed that insulting a president considered a crime in Turkey which has a sentence of 8 months to 4 years.
A criminal investigation also started after the President’s complaint. The front cover photo of Le Point showcased President Erdogan in a military salutation style in addition to two inscriptions. The first one accused him by saying that ‘Ethnic cleansing, Erdogan style’ whereas the other one questioned that ‘will we allow him to slaughter Kurds ?’
Turkey started the Syrian offensive on 9 October against Kurds to whom it considers terrorists. Worldwide criticism poured on Turkey but Turkey resists its move by saying that it wanted to create a safe zone for millions of Syrian refugees currently living their country.
