There is no doubt in the fact that the Entertainment Industry is not an easy place to survive and become successful in it is another story. It takes tons of secretive efforts to become a star out of the hell-hole called the Entertainment Industry. Just imagine the Ghanaian Entertainment industry then (by keeping in mind the much-hyped ‘Sex for Roles’ saga). But some of the actresses have proved to be tough enough to go through it and become successful in their careers. (Yvonne Nelson)
Likewise, Ghanaian actress/producer, Yvonne Nelson who is famous for speaking up about issues that need courage to be spoken, has recently shared a heart-wrenching story of how she became a successful actress that she is today. According to reports by Adom TV Live, Ghanaians are quite surprised after reading her very personal story as people especially famous celebrities don’t prefer to open up to the public about this aspect of their lives. After becoming successful they take the pride of being famous by totally forgetting about their harsh journeys. However, not in Yvonne Nelson’s case as she shared her story in order to bring awareness about various things.
Yvonne Nelson revealed how it was hard for her to continue her studies and do acting all along but she did it anyway. The actress also expressed the fact that she went for shooting as fun but it turned out to be very hard and she wanted to run away after the first day but she continued anyway. She also talked about the critics along the way.
Yvonne Nelson says in her post, “The arrogant princess Tyra was in Central University level 100 when Salam called me during lectures for a meeting, I got there and realized they were shooting this movie…he told me he wanted to see how I looked in the costume, to cut this long narration short, I changed, they gave me a script and started shooting immediately, geez! I sucked! Couldn’t focus! Had no experience, they laughed and teased me.”
“There was a point Kofi Adjorlolo got so angry he asked Salam and the director to replace me, after my last scene I whispered to one of the extras I wasn’t gonna come back the next day, she obviously went straight to Salam and told him, that day was embarrassing, humiliating but guess what, it was the biggest BLESSING in my career and my acting journey, it opened many doors, the country asked who this new girl was! In class I couldn’t even concentrate, group presentations sucked cuz everyone was waiting for me to mess up so they could laugh , (it’s a school thing)”
“Lectures started at 7am and shoot around 9am, I was always under pressure to leave school and go on set! Imagine closing from set at midnight, going for lectures at 7am and repeating this for 4 years. Haven’t even mentioned trips to Nigeria etc for work! I’m proud I graduated! I’m proud I didn’t give up on acting.”
Ghanaians are proud of Yvonne for sharing such an inspiring story of her. Keep up the good work Yvonne!
