Russian President, Vladimir Putin has greeted African leaders on two-day maiden Russia-Africa Summit to indicate its growing role in the region and also says deepening ties with African countries as one of the top priorities of Russia. More than 3,000 representatives from both Russia and Africa traveled to Russian to attend the two-day summit.

54 African countries sent their delegations in the Russia-Africa Summit whereas 43 heads of state or government also reached there, including Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, to discuss the political and business dealings worth billions of dollars.
Russian President told that Russia is currently exporting $25 billion of food items to African countries. He said that we are spending more on food than we spend on the exportation of arms ($15 billion). Mr. Putin expressed hope that the trade will double in the next four to five years. Russia also signaled to sign a military deal with Ivory Coast.
Besides military and security cooperation, the Russian President also assured that we help Africans to combat with Ebola virus. African cadres will get relevant training in Russian universities. Many mutual projects in industries, agriculture, healthcare, and education sectors are in the pipeline.
