Chile protests have still continued despite President Sebastián Piñera has suspended the increase in metro fares and now a supermarket fire in Santiago has killed at least 3 people. Mayor, Karla Rubilar reported that two people lost their lives at the scene while another died at the hospital.
The Chilean government has declared a state of emergency and night curfew over continued Chile protests. The soldiers and tanks also sent on the streets first time after the end of Augusto Pinochet dictatorship in 1990. The recent turbulence is worst in decades. In 2nd day, protesters set up barricades on the way and burnt the buses. In response forces used tear gas and water cannon to disperse them. Mayor Felipe Alessandri has expressed concerns over the chaotic situation.
Around 156 police soldiers including 11 civilians injured in the protests and more than 300 also detained. Cultural and sporting events have suspended, shops remained locked and the underground system of the city closed down till Monday. The military is on hold to join police patrol later if needed. The authorities have a 15-day state of emergency that bans on assembly and freedom of movement of people.
