Police command has detained a 77-year old marijuana farmer over charges of growing the prohibited plant in Atebubu, Bono East Region. He grew marijuana on a 2-acre land area at the suburb of Atebubu, Mem to earn money for his livelihood.
Police personnel from the Atebubu Police command has completely destroyed the farm and also arrested the weed farmer. District Commander Chief Supt. Bright Boafo headed the Police command in operation. Police sources further revealed that they conducted the operation after receiving information from a local resident. They went there, arrest the owner for investigation and destroyed the farm.
Weed farmer Opanin Kwadwo Sampene admitted to smoking the banned weed for sixty years. He further said that he has nobody to support so he grew the banned weed to earn his livelihood.
