Dark mode support has been getting added for some months now. Almost all of the Google’s important — and not-so-prominent — apps got this update. An app was still awaiting this update and the people were equally patient: Google Maps. During navigation, the app is already having a user-configurable dark theme. But the rest of the interface still remains white. But now, the people can see signs of a dark mode in Maps, hopefully they suggest that this theme is coming out in a short while.
In the same way as Google search app started to display some time earlier, Maps’ dark mode can be seen in just some places and not the entire app. The places where it is the most visible are several menus and some buttons, but the time is obviously not yet here for this to come out as it is in the making. The first thing is that just small parts of the interface are affected by this theme. And secondly, loads of dark text is there on dark backgrounds.
Both Maps Beta 10.27 and Maps Preview are displaying signs. But the signs are all that we can see to now. The people are waiting to get this dark theme as it was promised to be presented together with Android 10.
