Saudi Arabia has made amendments into its strict visa rules for unmarried foreign pair by allowing them to share hotel rooms together to promote the tourism industry in the regime. However, women can stay separately in hotel rooms if they want.
Earlier, pairs have to provide documentary proof of their marriage to get rooms in a hotel. According to the Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, all locals have to show their family ID or evidence of relationships to register into hotels but foreign tourists didn’t need it anymore. Saudis women can also book and remain in hotel rooms by themselves without providing ID etc.
The condition of full cover-up is also not compulsory for female tourists but they will have to dress modestly. The use of alcohol still remains prohibited in the kingdom. Saudi Arabia wanted to improve its image to attract foreign tourists and investors towards its land.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has earlier finished the restriction on female drivers. He also permitted the women to go abroad without a male guardian’s consent. The amendment in strict visa rules will definitely attract more foreigners to travel the kingdom and will develop the economy.
