
Former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan has finally revealed the interesting story behind his much-hyped picture with the internationally acclaimed weight lifter, Mayweather.
According to the latest report by GTV Sports Live, the picture of Asamoah Gyan and Mayweather has been circulating on the internet for the last couple of days. People are quite jealous of Gyan who got the chance to take a picture with the living legend. However, after Asamoah has revealed the funny and adventurous story behind how he took the picture with Mayweather, we are in peace. The footballer had to play with his life, in order to take the picture.
According to the footballer, it was his dream to meet Mayweather and take a picture with him so his dream finally came true back in 2014 in Miami. He was so excited that he was about to get hit by the car but he survived and still took the picture.
Asamoah Gyan was being exclusively interviewed by the host Kwaku Manu, in which when the host asked him about the picture, he said, “The only celebrity I requested a photo from was Mayweather. I met Mayweather at Miami ahead of Brazil World Cup. I had not met him before that. We had just had a conversation about Mayweather because he was in Miami. I went to sleep, but after the conversation, I woke up to see several missed calls from John Boye.”
Gyan further explained how John told him that Mayweather is here. He couldn’t believe his ears and he got up and rushed towards the hotel. He said, “They went to a mall, just across our hotel room. I was even scared after seeing the numerous missed calls and when I returned the call, John Boye told me they have met Mayweather at the mall. I quickly left my hotel room in pursuit of Mayweather. I could have been knocked down by a vehicle if I had not been cautious.”
He also told about the twist in the story that how his fans and popularity came in hand and he finally met Mayweather. He continued by saying “I was stopped by one of his bodyguards, but I was saved by a group of African fans who began to hail me. The bodyguard after realizing my popularity went online to do a background check on me before he went inside to call Mayweather. I was dumbfounded when I meet him. We took pictures and exchanged numbers. He didn’t give his number to me; his bodyguard did, so I was chatting with him instead.”
