The Economic Intelligence Unit has forecasted that Akufo-Addo’s pledge to build factories under One District, One Factory (1D1F) project will be missed in 2019. Many reasons had made it impossible for the government to fulfill its 1D1F pledge by the end of 2019. EIU cited regional imbalances, less trained workforce and flaws in the business environment as core causes behind the missing of this year’s 1D1F target.
EIU has also remained a source of information about economic, political and business development. It provides information by its daily digital portfolio, through printed subscription products, through yearly reference works and by conducting seminars.
Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanten reported that 181 factories initiative will achieve in different stages across Ghana. The government will only back the private investor-led initiative to establish factories in the districts, he further added in May.
The EIU said the NPP administration wants to establish one factory in 260 districts of the country by 2020. Regional imbalances, lack of supporting infrastructure and other issues may also limit this year target of establishing 181 projects operational.
