The report published by the Economist Intelligence Unit says that in upcoming elections there are greater chances that the National Patriotic Party will win.
According to the report, Ghanaians will vote the President Akufo-Addo because they consider him best among all the current candidates and think that he can run the government better and he is a good custodian of the Economy of Ghana.
It also stated that “In November 2020, the next presidential and parliamentary elections are scheduled, the economic position will normally enhance over the rest of the president’s tenure in office. Akufo-Addo will face a challenge in the political campaign from John Mahama former president of Ghana from 2012 to 2017 from the NDC ticket.”
The 2016 presidential campaign was dominated by the fragile economy that many Ghanaians still associate with Mr. Mahama. As a result, The Economist Intelligence Unit assumes that it will be hard for Mr. Mahama’s NDC to depict itself as the best caretaker of Ghana’s economy, particularly as the country’s perspective for development is relatively powerful.
On the other hand, President Akufo-Addo has already said that he doesn’t need support from the electoral commission and he denied all the rumors which were claiming that Akufo-Addo is controlling the electoral commission.
