Beijing has urged Washington to take necessary steps to solve the North Korean nuclear issue and to restart the stalled nuclear dialogue as Pyongyang wanted to continue negotiations. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that to apply maximum pressure is not the solution of the problem.

Wang further said that the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) should focus on discussions which lead to sanctions relief for the North. Pyongyang has remained under US and UN pressure for a long time over its nuclear program. Washington is not ready to lift sanctions until North will give it its nuclear weapons program.
On Monday, North Korea showed willingness to revive nuclear talks with the United States this month. However, it also demanded that Washington has to adopt a different approach to continue dealings. Later, Pyongyang tested a new round of short-range missiles.
Top diplomat Wang Yi said that we welcomed North Korea’s positive attitude to continue stalled talks. Wang stressed on the need of addressing the core concerns of both sides instead of using extreme pressure for unilateral benefits as it didn’t work in the history or work now, nor in coming time. He said that China hopes that the US will make efforts to ease the simmering situation and will promote dialogue.
Pyongyang-Washington talks slowed down since Kim and President Donald Trump second summit in February.
