There is no doubt in the fact that Ghanaians love to backlash celebrities especially if they get an ultimate success overnight. Yes! You guessed it right, I’m talking about the sensational RuffTown Records signee, Wendy Shay who is under massive backlash again and this time for her latest statement about her net worth.
Wendy Shay appeared in an exclusive interview in which she talked about her personal life and music career in detail. The songstress was being amazing while answering all the questions until the host asked her about her net worth. There is no doubt in the fact that people naturally start to brag whenever they talk about their worth. Likewise, Wendy Shay said she doesn’t exactly know about her worth so lets Google. The Uber Driver’ hitmaker literally said, “Oh I haven’t checked, I think I have to check it online.”
Not only this the whole situation escalated when the host asked her “Wendy, ever since you got signed to RuffTown Records, what is that one thing you have gained musically for yourself that you can say I got this camera or I got this carpet…”
According to the report by Adom News TV, the public have been back-lashing the songstress for her classic reply ever since the interview came out. As Wendy Shay’s reply was, “I’ve got so many stuff. Too many. Woo. I mean I can actually buy the latest iPhone that is in town right now. I mean I do have a lot of stuff, camera, iPad, I mean stuffs that every girl at my age is going to need I do have money to buy all of these things.”
Almost every news channel and social media publicity pages in Ghana posted the video of Wendy talking about her net worth and made the mess of the whole situation. After getting major backlash Wendy Shay couldn’t resist coming out and defending her reply in public. While defending her reply she said, “I could now afford things in a minute but back then I was buying things on credit even though I was working in Germany.”
Lastly, let’s not forget to remember the best example of Ghanaians back-lashing sensational celebrities. The late Ghanaian songstress, Ebony Reigns who went on the top of her career within a few days and Ghanaians couldn’t bear it at all. She used to be in highlights every single day for all the wrong reasons. However, after she died in an accident almost one and a half year back, everyone started appreciating her talent, music, and everything. This is the reality of Ghanaians being super hypocrite. Well, in the end, it’s not Ghanaians it’s human nature.
