Northern Ireland’s hopes of qualifying for EURO 2020 shattered to a great extent, as they were beaten down by the mighty Germans at Windsor Park. Germany leads the group C.
Marcel Hantensberg scored the initial goal in the second half courtesy of a beautifully set half volley, followed by Serge Gnabry’s goal in the stoppage time, to give Germany a clear edge of the Irish side.
Conor Washington missed a couple of opportunities of scoring a couple of goals, and Stuart Dallas also had a close chance of scoring one, but all in vain.

The Irish keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell was outstanding though couldn’t prevent two goals.
Northern Ireland did put up a fighting show, but on a losing node. They will now have to play even better as their struggle to reach the EURO 2020 will require some doing.
The Northern Ireland has lost eight consecutive games to Germany, which speaks volumes about the solid-state chemistry of the German side.
The Northern Ireland made a very promising start to the campaign by winning their first four games consecutively, but couldn’t carry on the momentum, and eventually lost to Germany.
