Former Manchester City captain is circumspect and worried about the growing number of incidents pertaining to hate crime and racism during football matches. He says that lack of diversity in management and organization of football is one big problem which has sparked levels and numbers of racist incidents. The organizational structure is less diverse and finds difficult to handle racism.
The Belgian was responding amidst a very recent racist incident made the headlines. Compatriot Romelu Lukaku was racially abused by Cagliari supporters, while he was playing was Inter Milan over the weekend.

Lakaku said that the incident showed that the game is not moving in the forward direction.
Kompany responded by saying that the victim (Romelu) is a target of something very disgraceful not only on football pitch but also in the society.
Racism has become a global issue in recent years, as world is becoming highly bipolar. People are finding it difficult to settle and meet their personal ends, and racial abuse has become one way of dealing with personal grievances, though it never serves the purpose.
Zain U Din Zidane of France was racially abused by his Italian counterpart during a world cup final match back in 2006.
