Former President John Mahama has said that the project of which the current ruling party is taking the credits is actually his initiative which he started during his government tenure.
He said that when we left the office in 2016 we had already built 120 dams of this project, although Mahama has not mentioned the specific locations of the dams where they were built during his administration.
He also criticized the administration of the current president Nana Addo that the dams which they are building are of very low quality and they can last long, he also said that some of them are already wiped out by the rain.
One village one dam project :
Building tiny dams and dugouts across villages in the three southern areas is the primary undertaking under the one village one dam initiative that was a significant demonstration commitment of the then opposition NPP prior to the 2016 general election that it won massively.
The project was intended to provide water to smallholder farmers in societies throughout the year, especially in the three southern areas (now five), and it was expected that it would considerably enhance the efficiency and earnings of smallholder laborers and enhance rural livelihoods as well as guarantee food and security.
