Twitter and Facebook have decided to discourage the Chinese misinformation campaign and removed several accounts use to spread political disharmony in Hong Kong. Twitter has deleted 936 such accounts which created in China to destabilize the legality and political situation of the protests.
Meanwhile, Facebook has removed 7 Pages, 3 Groups and 5 Facebook accounts following Twitter efforts. These accounts use to publish news and issues about Hong Kong protests, an official from Facebook revealed. The people with conceals their identities but cyber investigations tracks and associated these accounts and pages with China.
Twitter has also suspended 200,000 accounts which made to intensify the misinformation. The firm said that they have evidence of coordinated state-backed operation. Social media services ensured to continue to serve the public discussion.
