Edith Penelope Arhin, GIS spokesperson reported that head office of department received 40 Ghanaians deportees aged between 21 and 70 years.
The Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI), Barbara Sam quickly contacted the US head office of immigration and asked them the reason behind this strict action. The officer informed that these Ghanaians were committing crimes in the US. According to the official report, deportees include 2 females and 38 males. Edith Penelope Arhin informed that they committed crimes like domestic violence, deception, vehicle theft, larceny and many more. All deportees arrived on 777 – OAE 328, Omni Air International Boeing.
“Thave has been deported for various offenses ranging from the trafficking of banned substances, assault, vehicle theft, burglary, fraud, domestic violence, and immigration-related issues. 38 of them arrived on Travel Certificate issued by the Ghana Mission in Washington, DC whilst two of them on Ghanaian passports.”
Further GIS informed that not the only US deported Ghanaians but Saudi Arabia also deported 12 Ghanaian females. These ladies were found living illegally in Saudi Arabia. Ages were marked between 20 to 30 years. They arrived on Ethiopian Airline.
“They are mostly junior and senior high school graduates and were working as domestic bits of help, storekeepers and fuel attendants. Since they were not captured while committing a crime.”
