Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo has handed over the agricultural equipment like tractors, harvesters, ploughs and more machinery to Agricultural Mechanization Centre located in Wulensi. He presented the machinery during his two-day tour of the Northern Region.
Food and Agric Minister, Dr. Owusu Akoto also attended the congregation and memorized the days when NPP led administration under John Kufour initiated the construction of agricultural mechanization centers. He said that when Mr. Kufour tenure ended then we have 78 such functioning centers. These centers destroyed or closed during NDC reign because of lack of maintenance. Now, an NPP ruler, President Akufo-Addo has again paid attention to the agriculture sector to boost Ghana’s economy.
The strategy to boost the sector is showing satisfactory output and productivity. Ghana is going to see huge crop production this year and our exports will further escalate with this, he added. So we will focus on small holdings to boost economic development.
