Around 60 people burnt to death in a deadly blast which occurred when a fuel tanker overturned on a major road in Tanzania and locals rush towards it to recover fuel.
The explosion left behind the burnt bodies of dead and injured people on the ground. More than 70 people sustained various degrees of burns in the deadly explosion. The flaming debris spread over a wide area in the Morogoro region near the port city of Dar es Salaam. Morogoro city used to transport the cargo and fuel from the commercial capital.
Fears of rising in death toll are looming as most of the hurts receives serious burns. According to an eyewitness, many people reportedly died at the scene even those who have no concern with the fuel as this area usually remains a busy place. Police Chief Willbrod Mtafungwa reported that most of the deceased included the motorbike and the taxi drivers.
Such disaster frequently occurred in Africa and people put their lives in danger to get the fuel from tankers. Earlier in July, a fuel tanker blasted in Nigeria in which 45 people reportedly died. A similar explosion in Niamey, Niger left 80 people dead.
