Egypt has called the deadly explosion outside the cancer hospital in Cairo on Sunday evening a terrorist act wherein around 20 people lost their lives. The blast occurred after a speedy car lost its direction, struck into other vehicles outside a hospital which triggered an explosion.
The blast further sparked blazes which forced the people from nearby buildings to move from the scene. Three of the 47 injured are in critical condition. They have sustained various degrees of burns. Authorities have shifted the 78 cancer patients inside the facility to other medical centers. The blast also damaged the hospital infrastructure and police has begun the inquiry over the cause of the crash.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi expressed deep sorrows over the tragic incident and extends his condolences to the victims’ families. He also condemns the cowardly terrorist act at the surrounding of a cancer hospital in Kasr al-Aini area.
