Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Commander has disclosed that its naval forces have detained another foreign tanker including seven sailors in the Gulf region that was supposedly smuggling fuel to Arab countries. According to naval forces, the tanker was transferring 700,000l of fuel.
The recent seizure has further seethed the US-Iran conflict which intensified after US sanctions on Tehran’s oil sector. Earlier in July, Iran has held a British-flagged tanker on charges of collision with a fishing ship. The United States also put the entire blame of May and June tankers attack on Iran but Tehran neglected the accusations.
A source revealed that Iranian naval forces targeted the ship near Farsi Island and transferred it Bushehr. Authorities also took the fuel of the ship into their custody. The details about ship and crew are still unclear.
