The National Chairperson for Textiles, Garment and Leather Industries at the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Mrs Doris Kessie has recently called upon all the Ghanaians to grow more cotton. According to Mrs Doris, these hard times require youth to grow more cotton and benefit the textile industry.
She said, “It’s time to train the youth and farmers to produce high-quality cotton on a larger scale to feed the textile factories and for export.” She also added that the northern areas of Ghana are our best shot when it comes to the favorable climate which supports the cotton growth.
A few members of AGI including Mrs. Dris has recently had an exclusive two-day familiarization visit to the Eastern and Volta regions where they visited the Akosombo Industrial Company Limited (AICL) and the Volta Star Textiles limited, Juapong. Amid the visit, they observed the overall conditions of the textile industries and talked about the ways which can make them successful on an international level.
