Tehran has claimed that Revolutionary Guards has held a fuel-smuggling ship and crew, carrying 220,000 gallons fuel in the Gulf Region.
However, another UAE-based tanker stopped sending its location report after it entered in Strait of Hormuz. Iranian forces have informed that they helped to a broken-down foreign tanker earlier in Iranian waters.
Revolutionary Guards claimed that they have taken a fuel-smuggling ship into their custody during naval patrols to stop organized smuggling. A source revealed that though ship can take two million liters fuel but it was smuggling only one million liters when seized at Larak Island. Iranian forces caught the ship and 12 crew red-handed at the moment when they were handing over the smuggled fuel. The judicial inquiry over the case has started now.
The UK is getting information about the tanker seizure report and has requested Tehran to decrease the growing tensions in the region. Earlier, tensions in the Gulf have simmered since few months and recent events have played a pivotal role in escalating the growing strains.
The United States left the nuclear deal and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran that caused the collapse of the Iranian economy. The US also accused Iran of oil tankers assault in the Gulf which Iran never accepted. Iran also targeted and hit US drone which infuriated US president who ordered his forces to attack Iran but took its decision back after few minutes. The UK held Iranian oil tanker and Iran warned to retaliate. All these events have intensified the relations of Iran with the EU and the US.
