The industrial revolution led to discoveries such as TV, cars, radio, semi-digital theaters and the onset of computers and digitization. The person of 80s adjusted accordingly. Fashion trends were altered according to complement industrial growth.
Some of the fashion trends of 80s included:
Big hair became a part of the plan and necessity. Male joined in along with females in longer, multi-layered, straight or Hurley, blond or grey….after dying and painting essentials.
Use of Spandex in cloth making became common. An elastic material which is much more durable than synthetic rubber was used to produce women costumes initially.
Multi-layered shirts became the order of the day.
High waist jeans
High waist jeans became the top trend among the youth of the 80s.
Neon lights are in practice in the contemporary world. Neon gas is the main ingredient. The light has an attractive and appeasing glow. Similarly, neon colors in clothing were prevalent in 80 to add flavor and glamour.
Cut off sweatshirts
They had a natural healing effect amidst severe perspiration.
Mullets, ponies, and sideway ponies was an innovative hair-style adopted in 80.
People of 80s showed a marked difference in fashion trends primarily because of the technological and industrial advancements. Additionally, people were becoming more conscious of their looks in changing the dynamics of the globe. Means of communication were enhancing and traveling was becoming much easier in terms of flight operation and sea routes. So multi-dimensional set of approaches were adopted, a mix of cultural trends gave way to some of the very peculiar fashion trends.
