Climate Change is the gradual rise in the temperatures of our earth. We are experiencing extreme climatic patterns all across the globe. Glaciers are melting at higher rates; natural calamities have become a common phenomenon. Ozone depletion and global warming are showing their signs on the health and order of our earth.
But it is not only the earth that is the victim of this human onslaught, human being they are prone to death and decay courtesy of climate change. Mental disorders, stress, and strain have become a common phenomenon.
climate change and mental health
Harmful greenhouse gases in the air are causing our lungs to function abnormally. Alveoli’s and related structures become less efficient as a result of toxic gas inhalation. Respiratory problems play on the mind and result in suffocation. Less oxygen supplies to the brain cause severe mental stress which can result in chronic mental disorder.
Water reservoirs are polluted as they bear the brunt of Industrial Wastes. Harmful bacteria invade our body and this too has serious repercussions on our mental health. There is a direct relationship between stomach aches and mental disorders.
People living in urban areas have to bear thresholds levels of noise which causes depression, anxiety, and multiple stress disorders.
Climate change is causing our earth to suffocate and we are living in poor, unhealthy and hazy environmental conditions which are having negative impacts on the physical and coordinated structure of our mind and body.
Fossil fuel burning, rapid industrialization, population influx, deforestation and use of non-biodegradable elements are the biggest causes of Ozone Depletion. As an individual, we can contribute by diminishing use of plastic bags and by using eco-friendly products.
