More than 40 migrants reportedly killed and 130 more injured in the detention center attack in suburbs of Tripoli, Libya. The Libyan government said that center was hit by an air strike which leads to casualties.
Meanwhile, Gen Khalifa Haftar forces have alleged government forces of bombarding the migrant center. Most of the deceased migrants at the detention center attack were Africans who want to reach Europe after crossing the Clandestine Sea. The demise of long-time ruler Muammar Gaddafi has left the country in chaos and violence.
Emergency services spokesperson told media that Tajoura Detention Centre was hit in the evening where 120 migrants were present at that time. Tajoura detention center is a home of 600 migrants. A doctor from the Libyan health ministry went to the scene and describes the horrific situation. He said that attack has fully destroyed the camp while blood and body parts spread everywhere.
The UN-backed Government has alleged Libyan National Army (LNA) for conducting the air strike. LNA forces were struggling against the government forces near the detention center. LNA earlier warned to begin heavy air strikes and its warplanes targeted pro-government camp. In response, government forces fired on them which hit the migrant center. However, there is no evidence who was behind the attack.
