In a surprising move at G20, President Donald Trump has expressed his desire to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and invited him at demilitarised zone between North and South Korea.
Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter that he is leaving Japan for South Korea after attending the G20 summit and offer Mr. Kim to meet him at the fortified area only for ‘shake hand and say hello’. North Korea has called it an interesting idea but also stated that they didn’t receive any official proposal for the meeting. The meeting can help in advancing the bilateral relations of North Korea and the United States.
Mr. Trump will meet South Korean President Mr. Moon in Seoul to discuss North Korea denuclearization talks. If Trump-Kim meeting occurred at DMZ then it would be pair’s third encounter in a year and after the second Vietnam talks collapse. Some of the analysts suggested that few minutes face-to-face meeting could pave the way for future nuclear talks.
US president also met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman on breakfast in Japan. Later, after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Mr. Trump agreed to continue trade talks leaving behind tit-for-tat trade war strategy.
