In just a week of AFCON 2019’s commencement, three players will be taking a flight out of Egypt, and the Malian striker Adama Niane is one of them.
According to several media reports, Mali’s Adama Niane had a disagreement with his captain during their match against Mauritania which further fumed in their hotel over the arrival of the hairdresser. Reportedly, the 24-year-old slapped his skipper in a barber’s chair leading to his dismissal from both the team and the tournament.
As per a team source, this is how the things went in their hotel in Suez:
“Certain players ordered a hairdresser to come to the team hotel. Abdoulaye Diaby was the first to sit in the chair to have his hair cut.
“That was not to Adama Niane’s liking. He said some harsh words to his captain, asking how a ‘kid’ like him could dare to have his hair cut before Niane.
“At that point, a fight broke out between the two strikers.”
Adama has been expelled from Malian squad and will be catching his flight back from Cairo International Airport.
