Former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings has requested the Electoral Commission to preserve the sanctity of the right of choice for the transparent electoral process.
He made the statement while he met with the administration of National Electoral Commission at Accra. Moreover, the former president urged them for the sanctity of the process in order to make the electoral process acceptable for both winners and losers. He further said that parties will only accept the electoral process outcomes if procedure will be processed with complete integrity.
Flt Lt Rawlings also commended the leadership qualities of EC chairman Mrs. Jean Mensa. Former President ironically justified that parties seek for the standardized process from EC. If someone destabilized and dishonored the sanctity of the right of choice then EC will accountable for it. It is really hard to maintain a high level of integrity and the public should be aware of the thinking process of the EC members.
From supervising referendum to the limited voter registration process, EC has showed off good track record and integrity. The transparency of the electoral process will develop democratic credentials of Ghana and propel progress. EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa led her team in the meeting to explain the commission operations and to bring EC closer to voters.
