Critics weren’t happy with Mohamed Salah’s performance in the opening match of the 2019’s AFCON and went onto calling him greedy and self-interested.
The opening match wasn’t a slideshow of goals as it was expected to be, as Liverpool’s man was kept down by the warriors for the whole match. The match ended up in a 1-0 as Egypt only managed to score a single in their home ground.
With critics, calling the Pharaoh’s own man selfish player because he was kept down by the warriors in the opening thriller, the manager of Egypt’s team, Sir Javier Aguirre, had some words for the critics.
“Salah works hard with team spirit and is very committed. He is not playing selfishly as some people say.”
“There isn’t any problem at all. Salah is a very important player for the Egypt team like Cedric Bakambu is for the Democratic Republic of Congo, but we also have other players who can reach the goal and score like what happened with Mahmoud Trezeguet against Zimbabwe.”
With Salah being worked on by the warriors in the opener, we don’t know what to expect from Liverpool’s star in this year’s AFCON. We’ll just have to wait and see if he can overcome the odds and make a come back in the upcoming fixtures of this thrilling tournament.
