Bangladesh beat Afghanistan in match 31 of the ICC cricket world cup in the UK. Afghanistan won the toss and put Bangladesh into bat at Southampton. Bangladesh scored 262 runs which proved enough for the Afghans and they lost by 62 runs.
Mushfiq Ur Rahim was the star with the bat for the Bangladeshis. He scored 83 runs in the middle of the innings. Tournaments leading run-scorer, Shakib Ul Hassan, proved his worth and credibility yet again with his half-century. He also picked 4 wickets. Afghan spinners did break through at times. But still, the Bangladeshi was able to put a decent enough total on the scoreboard.
Afghanistan had to bat well to get things going. But they fell short of the target by 62 runs to stay right at the bottom of the points table with zero points to their name. Afghanistan has tried their level best to match some of the more competitive sides, but they have not been able to cross the winning line. Afghanistan is the weakest link in the tournament.

Bangladesh is at number 5 slot on the points table. Bangladesh will have to beat Pakistan and India if they are to remain a contender in the event. But that is not going to be easy either.
New Zealand is leading the points table followed by the Australians. India is at number three slot whereas the hosts have occupied the 4th position. A big match is on our hands as Australia will take on England at Lords Cricket Ground in London.
