Egypt is a beautiful country. Egypt borders two continents, namely Asia and Africa. The country is culturally rich and diverse. Primitive Egyptians loved to dress in unique and peculiar ways.
People of ancient Egypt used jewelry as an ornamental tool. Linen was the most commonly used type of fabric used by the primitive Egyptians. Indigenous plant fibers were used to produce linen fabric. Cotton was prevalent amongst the lower classes. Silk was the choice of the upper class.
Leather jackets and coats were common during the time of Pharaohs. Jackets and over-coats made of tiger skins symbolically represented power, wealth, status and authority.
Earliest Egyptians didn’t like much of sewing. They would prefer wearing a long linen coat, wrapped around their bodies, secured by a belt. Shendyt is the name of the gown-like structure worn by the primitive Egyptians. Former Egyptians preferred White over any other color.
The hot and humid weather of Egypt forced people to wear thin clothes. Tutankhamen was one of the many Pharaohs to have ruled in Egypt. His belongings, which were discovered after his demise, included a variety of clothing. Gloves, socks, aprons, innerwear, tunic, and shirts were discovered from his mausoleum. This proved that men used to wear a rich variety of clothes primarily in the short-lived winters. Hot summers didn’t allow them the room and space to opt for so many types of clothes at one time.
