The Kitenge Ankara dress has its origin in Africa. The word Ankara can be confused with the Turkish capital. But the dress has nothing to do with Ankara as the capital of Turkey. Kitenge dress is an indigenous African fabric. The dress is also called ‘Holland wax’ or ‘Dutch wax’.
