India has beaten Australia in the 14th match of round one by 36 runs. The match was played at the Oval, London. It was a high scoring match. The wicket looked good right from the onset and India made the most of the conditions to win the match by 36 runs.
Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, won the toss and decided to bat. India has a very strong batting line up. Rohit Sharma and Dhawan made a promising start. Dhawan went on to make a century. Australian pace attack never looked in control. Indian top order batsman made the most of the conditions at Oval. Virat Kohli the captain played decent innings of 84. India was able to pile on a big score of 354, the most runs scored in an innings in the world cup event so far.
India beats Australia on a batting turf
Australian openers made a slow start. Warner took 84 deliveries to score a half-century. Finch wasn’t impressive either. The Australian batsmen were susceptible and over-conscious. They were trying to preserve the wickets for the ends. But the required run rate was always climbed. And it became virtually impossible for tail-end to match-up the required run rate.
India, England, and Australia are strong contenders for this year’s world cup. Not to forget New Zealand who is yet to lose in the event. New Zealand is leading the points table with three wins on the trot.
West Indies is going to take on South Africa today at Rose Bowl, Hampshire. South African has lost all the three games they have played so far. West Indies have looked promising with their very typical storming pace attack.
