Speaker of the parliament has written a letter to the High court that according to the constitution Mr. Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central has immunity from courts. He is under trial in the High court.
The letter further says that he is a member of parliament and according to provisions of 1992 constitution member of parliaments has special immunity from courts.
Previously Mahama Ayariga was called by the court and he excused because he said that he is a member of parliament and he cannot present himself in court because he has to attend the session of the parliament.
However, the court has said that member parliament will make sure his presence in the court throughout the trial.
