Energy is the dire need of modern-day life. Rapid industrialization and heavy mechanical complexes require energy in abundance. Over-population is one very big cause of ever-increasing energy requirements. We are heavily dependent on non-renewable energy sources which include coal, petroleum and natural gas. Non-renewable energy sources are depleting because of over-exploitation. Additionally, combustion of fossil fuels, to produce energy, is degrading our environment. A gradual shift from non-renewable to renewable energy sources is mandatory for sustainability.
Listed below are a few of the many renewable energy sources.
Organic matter is processed to produce energy. Organic matter includes animal and plants matter. Wood is one example of biomass.
Methane is the major constituent of biogas. Organic matter is broken down in the presence of water, oxygen, and bacteria to produce gas. Biogas is much cheap than natural gas and has very little or no repercussions on our environment.
Strong winds blow in coastal areas all through the day. Why not utilize the wind to generate energy. Windmills and turbines convert wind energy in electrical energy.
High flowing oceanic tides looks astonishing, especially in the evening. They can make a spectator tremble and horrified with its gigantic look. The attraction of the moon and sun, a combo of both, results in tides to whip over the surface of oceans. Tidal waves are an important source of energy.
Our earth’s interior is very hot. This heat and the intensity of it is evident during volcanic activity. The surface of the earth can be drilled down to extract hot water. The pressure, speed, and intensity of the exploding water are used to run the turbines.
Light waves are made of Photons. Photons are discrete packets of energy. These packets of energy can be utilized to run automobiles and other electrical and mechanical utensils.
Water is made to fall under the influence of the earth’s gravitational force to produce what is called hydroelectricity.
Compressed Natural gas has plenty of advantages over conventional Natural Gas. CNG is lighter than air so it easily diffuses in the surrounding. It is cheaper and is friendlier towards the environment in comparison to Natural Gas.
Solar panels are another one of the renewable energy sources. Sunlight is allowed to fall on metallic sheets. The charges species in protons and electrons oscillate and vibrate with much more pace and intensity which results in the production of electrical energy.
The power of an atom surpasses the power of any other entity available on our planet. Atom is the smallest possible part of the matter which cannot be further divided. And ironically, is blessed with unimaginable amounts of power. This is the power of nature in fact. Fission and Fusion process in nuclear reactors results in the production of energy.
