Pakistan has surprised the cricketing world with a magical performance. They were up against England in a world cup match. And they have beaten England by 14 runs.
England won the toss and put Pakistan into bat at Nottingham, Trent Bridge. Pakistani batsmen piled a massive total of 348 in their allotted quota of fifty overs. Muhammad Hafiz was top scorer as he scored 84. Baber Azam made a valuable contribution as he scored 63. Captain Sarfraz placed himself up the order to lead from the front. He scored a half-century in the middle of the innings.
English team had to play very well in order to achieve the target. Such a huge total hasn’t been chased down successfully in the entire Cricket World Cup history. England had the advantage of home crowd and local conditions. The fans were anticipating a close game and wanted England cross the winning line. But not to be, as Pakistani pacers and slower bowlers played their part and broke down partnerships at crucial moments.
Man of the match, Muhammad Hafeez
Joe Root and Butler scored centuries. Both looked dangerous and were involved in a healthy partnership. Both shared a partnership of 130 runs, but could not lead their team to victory.
Pakistan is considered most unpredictable side in the cricketing world. They lost to West Indies by seven wickets. But have come back strongly to beat the most favorite contender of this year’s world cup.
England won their opening game against the South Africa. They have now lost to Pakistan. Pakistan astonished the cricketing world yet again with their metaphysical ability of unpredictability and enthusiastic approach.
