TICO/TAQA T2 thermal plant in the Western Region has reduced electricity production to 50% due to some technical issues.
The workers of the plant accused management of ignoring technical advice of closing the plant after oil leakage which further triggered fire eruption.
They claimed that the power plant has the capacity to generate 330-megawatt of electricity. However, since the end of last year, the plant is only producing 150 megawatts citing managerial carelessness.
The team at the site drawn the administration’s attention towards oil leakage and called for immediate repair of the leak. But the administration didn’t pay any heed to the thermal plant issue and it caused fire eruption which brought financial loss.
The management also ignored STG MSCV failure in November which caused the loss of 311,040mwhrs in more than 3 months. The employees are not satisfied with the management who is ignoring the avoidable incidents. They are planning to protest for Managing Director’s resignation but executives are trying to convince them.
