Cocoa Board of Ghana has declared that it will continue to buy cocoa beans for 2018-19 crop season till 30th of this month.
Meanwhile, Licensed Buying Companies can get returns by increasing the deadline to one week till 6th of June. COCOBOD have intentions to buy 900,000 metric tonnes of cocoa beans in this crop season. The annual syndicated loan has been collected from twenty-one banks to support the purchasing.
The 1.3 billion dollars get on 2.5 percent interest. Ghana COCOBOD has secured this amount for buying the crop second time in history. Earlier in 2016/2017 season, it had allocated 1.8 billion dollars for the purchases. The unstable world market prices have influenced on the amount of cocoa season.
COCOBOD Chairman, Jospeh Boahen Aidoo has anticipated that he will not escalate the secured amount though crop yield has improved this year.
