
The popular UK-based Musicologist, Professor John Collins unveiled a shocking statement as he stated that super hit song, My Level does not belong to Highlife genera.
Many music fans already expressed worries over the win of Shatta Wale’s super hit song, ‘My Level.’ At this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards edition, the song titled as ‘My Level’ of best Highlife song of the year award.
Many music gurus also questioned the decision and stated that it was unfair. At the same, UK-based Musicologist, Professor John Collins disclosed that as per music studies ‘My Level’ song lack the basic content on Highlife music. He expressed that he was equally surprised by the announcement.
He also questioned the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards authority that how the song appears in such category and its known fact that it does not follow highlife music rule. He said a lot of element was missing in the song. He clarified that he will not betray the Ghanaians he declared that after studying the notes of the song he came upon the decision that song truly belongs to Afro-Dancehall. He added that the following songs are also out of highlife music category: King Promise’s ‘CCTV’ and Kidi’s ‘Thunder.’ These two songs fall in Afro-pop category.
