The captain of Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan’s retirement left Ghana football fan club in shock as he publicly announced his retirement decision. Ahead of ‘Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt’ the Black Stars captain separates himself from the national team. However, his decision is not welcomed by Ghanaians.
In the media and press session, the brilliant Kayserispor striker believed that Kwesi Appiah betrayed him at a really sensitive point. The Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah dropped out Asamoah Gyan from his team because he was suffering from an injury.
But the star footballer turned down all allegations and said he destroyed opponent team by scoring three consecutive goals. The accomplishment made in the Turkish league. After this achievement, he believes that he deserves the captain spot. According to him, instead of admiring his hard work the coach of the team dropped out his name from players list.
Nevertheless, the coach said he offered Gyan the post of general captain and another player should get chance to present Ghana at the AFCON. But Gyan immediately turned down the offer. To defend his point, the coach of the team said that Gyan was granted with the captaincy in 2012 and senior player and captain of that time John Mensah happily accepted the post of ‘general captain.’
The announcement of the final squad will be released on 21st May 2019, Tuesday.
