US-Iran tensions are increasing day-by-day and now United States president has taken another turn by declaring that he doesn’t want to turn the pressure on Iran into conflict.
He dismissed the fears of war while talking with Pentagon officials in spite of the fact that the US has sent its warship and missile system to the Gulf and also called its staff back from Iraq neighboring Iran. However, officials mentioned potential threats from Iran for making these safety measures.
According to recent reports, Iran has fixed missiles on ships at Gulf which, the US believes, has targeted the four tankers on UAE coast. However, the Tehran government has dismissed the United States claims by saying them false. Media reporters asked Mr. Trump about chances of war with Iran which he replied as ‘hopefully not’.
The US is doing efforts to reduce the tension with Iran so US Secretary of State scheduled to visit allies all around the world. Mike Pompeo has talked with Sultan Qaboos Bin Said of Oman over the US threats in the Gulf from Iran. Sultan Qaboos has played a mediator role between Iran and the West in the past. Mr. Pompeo said during his trip to Russia that its country didn’t want conflict with Ira. But the US will hit back in an appropriate way if Iran attacked on its interests.
For now, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also dismissed the chances of war by saying that both sides didn’t want to have war. Some reports also indicated that two US destroyers have crossed the Strait of Hormuz without any conflict a day ago.
