The government sector, National Communication Authority, NCA has officially closed the Elmina based Ahomka FM. The popular radio channel is owned by the businessman cum politician, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom.
National Communication Authority, NCA made special effort to close all ratio channels having any particular issue regarding license. Following the issue Dr. Papa Kwesi’s radio station was also declared expired. This specific announcement was made by NCA’s team member and NPP leader, Paa Kow Ackon through social media platform, Facebook. National Communication Authority shut down several radio station from last week.
The radio stations facing permanent or temporary ban are as following: Radio Gold, Radio XYZ, Nananom FM owned by a former Works and Housing Minister and Asutifi South Member of Parliament, Collins Dauda. Genesis FM owner by NDC determined and a prior Council of State Member, Nana Adjei Ampofo. Both stations were closed because they failed to follow license regulations. Another ratio station named as Sekpele FM in the Oti Region at Likpe was shut down by authorities on Friday.
The authority is continuously forcing to renew or follow the rules and regulations. While on other hand, the owners of radio stations complained that they are facing problems in getting new license.
