In order to fulfill all the promises and to achieve the targets, according to Mahama, four years for the Presidential term are not enough.
Calls have been made by John Dramani Mahama, the Former President to increase the Presidential term from four to five years.

In order to achieve the goals and missions, four years do not prove to be ample for staying in office as the former president says.
After elections, he clarified that to understand the things and to get the country running smoothly; it takes two years for the president.
John Agyekum Kufuor, another Former President of Ghana suggested for the first time that the Presidents’ term of office should be extended from four years to five years.

Mahama was on the same mind as that of the ex-president and to show that he agreed, he further added that it would be much better to have a five-year term.
At this time, whoever is elected for president in Ghana is able stay in office for just two terms and each of these two terms can be for four years at a maximum.
