A Russian jet crashed and burst into flames after an emergency landing on the runway at Moscow airport, as a result, 41 out of 78 people reportedly died. According to passengers and crew of the plane, the lightning hit the Aeroflot plane just moments before it bounced on the tarmac and caught the fire.
However, investigators gave no official opinion that either lightning hit the plane on landing at Sheremetyevo airport or not. Nowadays, jet planes are designed in a way so they can survive with lightning. Russian aircraft made an emergency landing because of some technical reasons. Some passengers said that the plane hit right after take-off while the crew also stated lightening as a cause of communication lost with air traffic control. The plane was carrying 78 people to Murmansk in northern Russia.
A Sukhoi Superjet-100 take-off at15:02 GMT and crew reported about malfunctions at the plane due to bad weather condition. The plane tried two landings and struck the tarmac three times while rubble entered into the engine and caused a fire.
Interim governor of Murmansk city, Andrey Chibis has confirmed that 26 out of 41 victims belong from his area. Investigators have found the black boxes of the Russian jet to put forward for further investigation. Pyotr Yegorov survived from the crash and said that lightning hit the aircraft as flight take-off. Mikhail Savchenko saved his life by jumping out on the emergency exit slides. An eyewitness said that aircraft seems jumping like a grasshopper on the runway. The airline claimed that it evacuated passengers in less than a minute.
