North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un visited the missile testing site and inspected strike drill testing short-range rocket launcher and other missile mechanisms.
North Korea has confirmed the testing of tactical guided weapons. The goal behind conducting the drill was to see the ability and accuracy of long-range multiple rocket launchers. Kim Jong-un also stressed on troops that only through powerful strength, we can ensure the peace and security of the country. The test of tactical guided weapons may intend to put pressure on the US. However, North Korea fulfilled its promise of not testing long-range missiles.
US Secretary, Mike Pompeo has said that drills remained limited to North Korean Peninsula. Therefore, the drill didn’t pose a threat to North Korea’s neighboring countries. Despite the failure of the Hanoi summit, US President Donald Trump believes that the US and North Korea will finally reach on a deal in the future.
Earlier, US president and North Korean leader met in Hanoi for the summit which doesn’t end successfully. The Central News Agency of Korea has revealed that Mr. Kim called it a need of the hour to protect the political sovereignty of North Korea and maintain its economic self-sustenance.
Joint Chiefs of Staff in South Korea has confirmed that North Korea has tested a number of short-range missiles. North Korea fired these weapons from Hodo peninsula into the northeast direction. The missiles traveled 70km- 200km before reaching into the target in the Sea of Japan.
